On Tuesday 26th November, REACHOUT organized the webinar “Climate Adaptation Tools and Services for Cities & Local Authorities”. The main objective was to present the REACHOUT journey and the experience of the city-hubs to a broader audience, creating opportunity for exchange with other local authorities, practitioners, climate service experts, as well as other projects under the umbrella of the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change.
The webinar started with introductory sessions about the European context of the Mission on Adaptation, REACHOUT Triple-A approach and other EU initiatives. Afterwards, a session dedicated to REACHOUT demonstrators showcased how city-hubs have been co-developing and implementing specific tools in their municipalities. In the second part, a series of three thematic breakout room sessions took place, focused on different topics: adaptation for extreme heat, integrated flood risk management and implementation of NBS for local sustainability. Lastly, an interactive session discussed tool appetite and willingness to invest, exploring pathways for the further adoption of climate adaptation services and tools.
The webinar was attended by more than 160 individual participants from both within and outside of Europe. The attendance showed a balanced distribution between local authorities, tool developers and consultants, research and experts, as well as NGOs and non-profit organizations. This event concludes the series of modules delivered as part of REACHOUT Learning Program.
